Statistics show over 11.4 million US workers were employed in construction in 2019. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , falls are the leading cause of work-related deaths at construction sites, accounting for over 36.4 percent of fatalities.   The New York C ity Health Department notes that approximately 58 percent of fatal unintentional injuries among construction workers were due to falls. Most fatal falls because of scaffolds, ladders, and roofs.   Ensuring safety at construction and demolition sites is paramount. According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report , 1 3 fatal workplace injuries occurred at NYC construction sites in 2020. The New York City Department of Buildings aims to reduce construction site-related injuries and fatalities. As a result, the DOB has devoted an entire chapter of the Buildings Code to site safety. It also requires construction sites to have site safety managers, coordinators, or superintendents present to ensure compliance.
